August 2010 Top 10 Chart - Vacation Edition
Greetings everyone! First off we must apologize for the late chart this month. After the release of our album Characters, we have been on self imposed “Studio Vacation”. We’ve been taking a little time to recharge the batteries and get geared up for the next wave of music.
This month, our remixes EP for Characters is set to be released on August 30th. The EP features remixes of tracks by several members of the Source family including veteran Sean McClellan, Hadi Burpee, Ryan Crane and stand out newcomer Audiopilot. The remixes are really fantastic, and each one definitely has the stamp of the remixers on it while retaining the original feel. Really great job by the guys on these mixes.
We also are featuring our obligatory Dinka track on here, with his new one entitled Camouflage. You can really start to hear how the typical Dinka sound is beginning to evolve a bit, as this remix really retains the same sound we have come to know and love from them, but with a few new twists added. We also have a great remix of a track from Mango called Good Morning Track. We have been playing the original version of this track for a while now, but the remixes EP features 3 brand new remixes of the already outstanding track. We really had a difficult time deciding on which version to play, but in the end the Sunn Jelle was our favorite. That being said, the other remixes from Sundriver and Tom Fall are excellent as well, so we recommend checking out the entire EP.
Schodt, another favorite producer of ours, is also featured this month, as he has a new vocal track out on Silk Royal with vocalist Aida Fenhel entitled White Tiger. This is a really great chilled out 4/4 track which retains his typical feel while also exploring new territory.
And finally, in honor of this being our “Vacation Edition” chart, we end the chart with 4 new chill out tracks from the Black Hole compilation Playa Del Lounge. These ambient tracks are perfect for sitting on the beach or just chilling out in the evening with a good glass of wine. We’ve really been digging the chill out sound as of late ever since being blown away by the awesome Croatia 2010 - The Opening compilation put out by the Swiss House guys a few months back. Don’t be surprised to hear a couple of chill tracks on the next Mario & Eric J album!
